Last week I was invited to go see the new Ann Taylor collection (in stores now). I met the team who showed me what they thought I might like, and then they turned me loose to show them what I actually liked! We had such a nice time and spent a few hours talking about why I liked certain things and what in store felt most “me”. I decided to bring my favorites with me on a recent antiquing trip and snapped some photos to share.
I gave myself a “fashoon dare” to embrace every day of this summer so I went with all-white! A white mesh-like skirt which is knee length, but it’s underlayer is shortened. It’s a nice fit on shorties like me because the difference in materials shows a bit more of leg. And I paired it with a tank that has a similar mesh detail on the top (not exact, which I like. ) The elastic band on the skirt breaks it up nicely and makes this look a like a dress. I did tighten the elastic on the skirt a bit, b/c this didn’t come in petite.
Next I threw on my favorite part of the outfit- the shoes. They are snakeskin sandals with shiny gold bauble detailing and I’m in love with them. In fact, while we walked through the store for the preview mid conversation I walked over picked them up and carried them along with me. (That they-might-get-away feeling where you think they are too good and if another size 6 walks in your doomed.) The bag? A nude bucket bag because quite honestly who doesn’t need a nude bucket bag every day in the summer. (hell little spider!!!) I also wore a taupe-y shades because the all white thing felt like it had to be broken up just a little bit for me. Adding the tan, cream and snakeskin really helped.
The finishing touch, which I know you saw over at instagram, the ring stacks. Something I was really impressed with at Ann Taylor was the jewelry selection. I grabbed two ring stacks, the rose quartz stack and the white howlite stack and mixed them up but kept them to two fingers because I liked the way they all look together but you can wear these any which way. Even as a single ring- each is pretty.
On the way out of the store I picked up one last item. The white Helene buckle wedges. I just think these look so high end, and I love a wedge when I’m on the run it’s just so hard to find a chic looking comfortable shoe! Then I got to work on my drawings. What did I whip up in that sketchbook? Stay tuned. And until then find links below to go shopping.
