June 22, 2015

Lately, my meetings with clients  have taken me to some of the most beautiful and discreet locations. Today I landed in the heart of Philadelphia. I spent the day at The Horticultural Center, in Fairmount Park. It is a wonderful green sanctuary tucked away from the city grind.

I always find myself mixing a typical feminine look with something unexpected, like this graphic tee. No nature walk is complete without a midi-skirt and some Louboutins, right? So naturally, to this meeting I paired my “Bad” graphic tee with a full, flirty, floral skirt. Of course my Daniel Wellington watch {as you’ve seen on my Instagram} and some nude, strappy Loubs were the finishing touches.

So lately, (more like always) I’ve had a serious obsession with mens/unisex watches. Therefore, it comes as no shock to you that my most recent found love is with none other but Daniel Wellington. These watches are classic and minimalist. The interchangeable straps make it a perfect ever-changing watch. Here are some of my favorites that you’ve seen on my instagram page!

{ every. morning. }

June 17, 2015

Every morning I take about 30 minutes for myself before the craziness of my job begins. My days as an illustartor and project designer are filled with design, running, meetings, ( coffee here) explaining, moodboards, concepting, drawing, redrawing (more coffee here). And by the end of the day, while everything looks pretty across social media, I’m so tired I can’t even keep an eye open.

I learned that in order to keep creativity going strong, it’s important to take a moment every morning to myself. A quick moment to reflect, to sip a coffee alone and most importantly to just look. I look at images in these thirty minutes- pinterest, magazines- essentially anything but my computer or phone. Then, when time is up I take a deep breath, get a refill and I move.

Do you have a morning routine to strip up creativity? If yes I’d love to hear about it below.

Cheers. To hard work. To friends who just “get you”. To tulle, to shoes and to chanel rosaries. And to you, the cheerleaders I’ve somehow been lucky enough to gather virtually along the way.

I had a recent project with NY mag and Chandon and I wanted to share some behind the scenes moments with you. The tulle just made everything seem so beautiful and I thought brides might be interested. The dress I chose to wear is from bhldn. It was a little bit big on me, but in the end we ended up just letting the top go- but brides- the fitted version is just beautiful check it out. I love a “crunchy” tulle so this dress what just one of my favorites. I paired it with black mules, and a killer Chanel rosary. (amen.)

Spent some time at Revolve clothing and ASOS thought I’d share some of my tops with you.
My problem? Narrowing down. Here are some of my favorite shoes at the site right now.

The  grey city waverly bootie, the gaby embellished flat, and the emyly braided heel are headed directly into my cart.

{ DS x DwellStudio }

June 11, 2015

You know my dining room? The one that is pretty much all over pinterest. Scalamandre walls, black nail head details, crazy chandelier, cacti x 1739728 etc etc. Well there is one wall you didn’t see in those photos because I could not for the LIFE of me figure out “what sconces even go with matte black zebras?” The answer?

The decision was DwellStudio’s “Richard sconces” . I liked that these went with the current vibe, but were simple, and sleek enough to not overpower the animals. The outside is matte black in color so it’s a perfect match and the inside is metallic gold. I guess I learned a I have a thing for lights that are gold lined because, look! I also own these from a previous dwell collection. Totally didn’t make the connection until now!

The point is, that DwellStudio has unintentionally become my go-to for lights these days. Check out the lighting section of their site and prepare to be hooked.

Well, you guessed it from instagram. It’s flamingo week here at the DS headquaters.  I love them so much, and this week I decided to take myself on a “flamingo study” before I draw them. On everything. I’m an illustrator and as artists know, the only way to really learn about a subject it to sit with it and study it. I am putting in some long observation hours with these guys and I’m not complaining. Can’t wait to see what kind of work comes out of it. Here are a few photos from my last visit.

I’m so inspired by their feathers. Stay tuned to all channels for some fun with flamingo’s in the next few weeks. Love flamingos too? Tag me. Let’s go.

{ Dallas Shaw x South Moon Under }

June 8, 2015

smu1 smu2 smu4

This weekend I took myself on a “research trip”, one that that I’ll further share this week, and since I was feeling tropical that day, I decided to hit the road in something extra summery. Something from South Moon Under. I picked up this “kimono” there (which is more like a long sheer dress than a kimono or a jacket. Clarifying because it’s under the jackets section of the website.) I had every intention of wearing it only as a cover up at the beach, but it was too pretty. So I paired it with my denim shorts and took it for a spin. I was thinking about getting some sun later in the day anyway so I threw on a bathing suit top instead of a crop or bralette.

I safety-pinned it in the front just to give it a more fitted shape and then I paired it with these seychelles heels, also from south moon under. Perforated AND a stacked heel! I wore them all day. Suuuuuper comfy.

As for accessories I piled jewelry on my wrists (including this lulu frost beauty), then added really inexpensive pink mirrored shades and a hat that I actually scored at a bus station. for $4. True story. See past instagram for proof.

What I love about this top is that you can wear it over a bathing suit during the day, and then pair it with shorts for dinner at night! It makes for easy packing on your next tropical getaway wouldn’t you say? Links below for you to shop.
