Did you guys feel that?  Feel the shift in the weather?  The mornings are getting darker and colder, which only means one thing, Fall is coming.  Fall is one of my favorite seasons, so I wanted to inspire you all to love Fall as much as me.  Go spruce up your home and wardrobe (and eat some pumpkin and apple flavors). Boots, sweaters, tights, it’s all a-okay with me.

Braids used to be my go-to hairstyle on the “I don’t want to do my hair” days.  Then braids became soo gorgeous that they’re great options whether you do or do not want to style your hair.  Then came copper.  Copper has become a huge trend in home and makeup, so it’s only logical to put it in your hair.  Here’s how to incorporate copper in your hair:

Now if you’ve been following along on the blog or social lately, you know I’m a huge Ted Baker fan, especially of their florals.  So much so, that I decided to wear two floral pieces together this NYFW. Truth be told, I have the matching heels, too I just felt like all three was a little much.

I paired the Dembrr sweater with the Paladia skirt, added some BCBG heels. Oh, and just a little rhinestone Chanel to get really fancy.

You know what’s the best about Ted Baker?  They want you to show off your styling skills to win a new outfit just like mine!  All you have to do is create a Pinterest board with product from Ted Baker’s Pinterest that shows you creating an outfit for your friend.  Submit your board to their site www.Tedbaker.com/PinpoinTED.

Each week, 4 winners will be selected for an $800 shopping spree for each you and the friend you created the look for.

I collaborated with Ted Baker and made my #PinPoinTED board.

So put your styling skills to the test and win yourself some Ted Baker.

I always love seeing the shows, and while other illustrators like to draw at shows, I just like to watch. Rather than racing through sketches, I like to focus on the clothes, the models movements, the full Fashion Week experience and production.

Here are some pretty images from a few favorite moments from Lela Rose and Donna Karan.

My next two days at NYFW consisted of artwork in between DKNY, Christian Siriano, a Reward Style event- and a highlight of the trip- H and K came to visit me! I took the rest of the day after the DKNY show off and spent it with my favorite people on the water at the Central Park boathouse. It felt like a true escape- even if for a few hours.  I got back to work that evening at the hotel and was fast asleep early. It was a much needed mid-week break. I did manage to recharge with the help of a metallic skirt by ASOS. It’s pretty amazing what wearing metallic will do.

I paired mine with a camo tee shirt and a dusty rose oversized sweater.

Textured Whites

Some people say you can’t wear white after Labor Day (I disagree, as you can tell from my NYFW posts, but that’s a different story), but why not put all your whites in your home?  I know what you’re thinking, white in a home is dangerous, but if you keep it to simple, interesting, texturized, accessories, you cannot go wrong.  Or, you can go all out and buy the chair (please will someone buy that chair and invite me over–I won’t drink red wine anywhere near it I promise).

White and cream is a thing (I am sorry grandma I know you probably hate this concept) and here is how I decided to wear it on Day 2:

I began with a white, sleeveless button down with a detailed collar and added a bow tie (not a traditional bow tie, but a long tie that I tied into a floppy bow). Originally I had planned to wear this with black shorts, but when I tried it and looked in the mirror, it felt boring. I added a cream midi skirt with gold stitching and a black underlay–and poof! chic happened.
Accessories included my black mulberry bag, gold watch, new brown-orange lipstick, and gold heels.
It’s rare that I am overly feminine with my clothes, so I pulled my hair into a messy pony (anything too styled would feel far to “done” for my personal style), kept my jewelry minimal, and balanced the look out with some cole haan shades that made the look feel a bit more modern, even though the shades had a retro feel. (This is why you need to try things on everyone, I thought these shades would have been way too theme-y but was wrong)

I am sometimes hesitant to get too girly, but ASOS may have changed my mind with this one.

{ nyfw day two }

September 8, 2014

Hello again, from NYFW.
Day 2 was beautiful and busy as per expected. Started off my day with meetings for some upcoming projects and plennnty of coffee.
Then, I popped by the Trina Turk and Mr. Turk presentation, which was bright and happy. The models wore a mix of bold prints, florals, and stripes. They also sported really fun poses and personalities to match. The proof? The selfies we took together right in the middle of the presentation. (not my idea, theirs!) I always wonder why everyone has to feel so uptight at presentations and was relieved to have a little fun with the models.

More evidence on instagram. See anyone familiar in that group?
After a lunch meeting with Jacey of Damsel in Dior, I headed to the L.A.M.B. presentation. I can tell you, this was by far the most artistic presentation I attended this week; the music was loud, beautiful imagery of the looks were projected onto the walls that surrounded the space, and the models walked in the middle of the room on a raised bar area.

Oh- and I got the opportunity to have a nice moment with the talented and beautiful Gwen Stefani. I know- I still can’t believe it either. As an artist, I have always respected the way she brings her personal style to every project and I wanted to tell her that (style-lover-and-artist to style-lover-and-artist).
She was kind, easy to talk to, and she even took some fun “self portraits” with me before we left.

If nyfw gets better than this I’ll be surprised.
Stay tuned for what I wore during part two of the post, tomorrow!

Day one: I made it to NYFW! My very own Superbowl. Day one here in NYC was long as expected, but a just a little bit more exciting than usual.

I came into town a bit earlier than planned to meet with some friends at Marriott to learn about their Marriott Rewards (looking for an easy way to earn and redeem points–use it!) and their new Flash Perks program, which brings you instant fun on your travels with exclusive offers and experiences, especially for your trip.

No one travels to-and-from quite like me these day, and you know I like to do it in style.  I was beyond thrilled to test out a few of the newest “perks“, a helicopter ride over NYC!  I was so happy for this experience and said very little during my time up in the sky. I felt overwhelmed with the beauty in seeing my favorite city from that distance and I won’t soon forget it.
After the trip I darted (It wasn’t glamorous) across town to meet the Century 21 team for a full day of filming and photos to prep for an upcoming project (stay tuned Philadelphia). I was super happy when the makeup artist liked my blue bottom liner and allowed me to rock it for the entire shoot.
After a long day under the lights I made a pit stop at the Schutz preview (my luggage still in tow, mind you).  And finally made it across town to Lincoln Center for a very late dinner with some fashion favorites.

Thank you to the Renaissance for having me in a place I rarely stay, Times Square. I was in the middle of the action, but felt like I was miles away when inside of the serene hotel. I enjoyed cocktails in the lounge overlooking the lights, an amazing Flash Perks dinner (took a friend to The Heath and if you haven’t been- that’s a whole other post) and am even using my perks to visit the MOMA later in the week. I’d say I’m off to a decent start.

Because of a very busy day, full of activities, filming, and a hotel transition, I kept my outfit basic with cream and white.  I chose to wear a dress by ASOS with cutout sleeves, black BCBG sandals, a Mulberry bag and mirrored shades by River Island, and minimal jewelry.
If this is all that happened on day one, I’m ready for the rest of the week. Bring it NYFW.
Don’t forget you can follow more on…Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest
And, if you want to have the same perks as I have this trip, you can buy them on the Flash Perks site this Thursday at 12pm.

Well, headed to NYC this week for my biannual NYFW trip. I have never been so excited to attend shows as I am this year. Everything has been going overwhelmingly well with both fashion illustration and social channels that I can’t see where the week takes me.

You can follow along on the blog for full day posts, instagram, twitter, facebook
